AT&T to try limits on Internet traffic

I guess this really isn't much of a surprise. With all the "unlimited" cell phone plans out there they're gonna have to find another way to make their money.

I have more wireless data devices than a person ought to have.

My Verizon phone is limited to 5Gigs/month. My old Sprint broadband cards was unlimited for a while, then it got the 5G limit, too.

What happens is that people get these things and when they work, they work really, really well, and they use them to transfer a whole lot of data. I have a Quicksilver from AT&T now and it is faster than a connection in a hotel. It's nice when something like this works better than advertised.

Oh, and btw, even thought I transfer tons of data across a vpn daily for work, and use these things for play, I never even come close to 5Gigs. The only people doing that much are doing illegal stuff like swapping movies and such.

250 gigs aint bad. Much less than that and I'll be looking for a new ISP though. They should be upgrading their antiquated equipment, then they wouldn't have issues. :rolleyes:

Yep, electronic unit costs keep going down with the newer gear. Once they start measuring volume, how quickly will the type of traffic will be monitored?
