A woman described as being obsessed with Paula Abdul (http://discuss.lifeinkc.com/celebrities/profile/index.jsp?uuid=f297b4b6-4827-4e6d-a13d-9d4c340f5714) has been found dead after apparently killing herself in a car parked outside the American Idol judge's hillside home, police confirm to E! News.
Los Angeles police officers found the body around 6 p.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of Beverly Ridge Drive in Sherman Oaks. The cause of death appears to be a suicide, and the body has been transported to the county coroner for autopsy.
Abdul's camp tells E! News that she is aware of the incident and plans to release a statement later today, after finishing up some Idol taping.
Authorities have not released the name of the 30-year-old woman, but say she seemed to be fixated on the "Forever Your Girl" singer.
"She has a history of mental illness," Capt. Ross Bonfiglio of the Ventura County Sheriff's Dept. tells E! News.
Family members in Thousand Oaks, Calif., reported the woman missing Tuesday around 3 p.m., Bonfiglio says.
