A fire caused about $100,000 damage to an Olathe duplex this morning.
No one was hurt, but firefighters had to resuscitate the family collie.
The fire, reported at 7:02 a.m. in the 12800 block of South Blackfoot Drive, started because items had been stored too close to a water heater, fire investigators reported. After putting out the fire, firefighters were called back to check a report of smoke. They found a hidden fire in the walls and attic that they put out.
Fire investigators warn that people should keep ignitable belongings at least three feet away from water heaters and furnaces.
