View Full Version : How low can you go?
Apparently, about this low. Shocking that an adult would get involved in something like this. I hope she gets plenty of cell time to think about it.

This Sept. 4, 2008 file photo shows Lori Drew, a Missouri woman who allegedly perpetrated a MySpace hoax that drove her daughter's 13-year-old classmate to suicide, leaves court in Los Angeles. The case of U.S. vs. Lori Drew is viewed in legal circles as landmark Internet law, but as outlined in government documents with its neighborhood feuds and a teen's suicide it reads more like a plot line for a made-for-TV drama.

"Made for TV Drama" - sick! What in God's name is this world coming to. I've heard she may skate and not get any punishment. Lets hope that won't happen. One would think she would be in a living hell knowing what she caused this girl to do.
Sometimes I think as wonderful as the Internet is if used properly, those that abuse it with selfish motives to cause havac to do the worst of the worst it may in the end be this country's downfall. People will be people but now they have a whole new world out here to act in criminal ways. Trouble is a lot of them if they even are caught, it's already too late.

I really hope so. Suicide is a personal choice. Just my view. No matter the age or circumstance.
A sad reality that someone "else" is responsible!

The girl was 13, the woman an adult. To me, it appears like she was stalking a minor. They are both sick, one has an excuse. But the adult - not a comparable illness.

Bingo! This woman should pay for contributing to the delinqency of the minors involved, including the dead one, at the very least. The dead girl was unstable to begin with and this dunderhead pushed her over the edge. An unusual case of child abuse.

This is clearly another "I don't want to be a parent. I want to be my daughter's best girlfriend."
You can either be a parent or best friend, but not both.

I have to say I agree here. I don't think what this woman did was right but I certainly don't think she should be responsible for the choices the child made.
This is clearly another "I don't want to be a parent. I want to be my daughter's best girlfriend."You can either be a parent or best friend, but not both. Sad thing is most people who want to be "friends" with their kids make the comments that "he/she knows they can talk to me about anything". They claim it makes the kids closer and more open to them. Apparently they not only failed as parents to see that something was up with their daughter they failed her as friends as well.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Where was this suicidal girl's mother? How could she not have picked up on SOMETHING going on with her daughter? Kids, especially teen girls, have a hard time hiding it when something's wrong. All it takes it "what's wrong?" and they spill everything. I"m sure she needed more than a parent to merely say "it's going to be all right"; she needed help. But a parent should've at least noticed, inquired, and then gotten her the help she needed.
That said, it's no excuse for what this horrible woman did to her daughter's classmate. It's just cruel and adults are supposed to know better. It goes back to what we've all said about parents who are too concerned with being their child's friend instead of their parent. One time my house was toilet-papered at 2am. My oldest daughter was pretty sure it was in retaliation for her having gotten a classmate into trouble, and sure enough this girl couldn't help crowing about it on the bus. Why was she crowing? Because she had 2 other "popular" girls spending the night and HER MOTHER DROVE THEM TO MY HOUSE. What do you suppose their future looks like with that kind of parental influence?
