KANSAS CITY, Mo.- "There is good news and bad news." says Greg Mortenson, author of the New York Times Best Seller "Three Cups of Tea".
Moments after meeting Mortenson you can tell he is the kind of guy who focuses on the good. He spoke Wednesday night to a packed house at Unity Temple on the Plaza in a talk sponsored by Rainy Day Books bookstore.
"As you know, the Taliban have bombed nearly 500 schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan, mostly schools for girls." "But", he says, "In 2000 at the height of the Taliban there were only 800,000 kids in school in Afghanistan. Today there are seven million kids in school, 2 million of them females. Not an awful lot of Americans know that."
