Some guns feed better than others, no doubt. The types with the barrel that slants upward when the slide comes back are the best, hands down. They lower the feed ramp so more blunt rounds will feed. My XDs eat whatever. I had a Glock that would FTF and FTE with the slide closing on the shell, too. Repeat had. No room in my house for an unreliable pistol.
My Kel-Tec was finicky until I fired it 50 times. Now it feeds HydraShock, GoldDot, all FMJ, and even the low recoil Federal hollow points. In a pocket pistol that costs less than $300. I am not one to own defensive firearms that require special ammo. Common ammo and GBET is the only way for me. Unless it is a deer rifle or long range stuff. That's different. Good pistols are pretty cheap these days. Lots of Taurus out there. S&W Sigma (2nd Gen) good, too. M&P is top shelf and if they came out before XD, I would have three of them. That's a fine defensive pistol right there. Great ergonomics. 1911s work great every time, too. CZs are reasonable and world renown. Looks at the Cabela's mailers then go to your dealer and make a deal. Charter Arms are good, too, for reliable wheel guns. Same with Taurus again. Less than $500 and you can have an XD, less than $400 and you can have a Taurus, less than $300 and you can have a Kel-Tec, all with lifetime warranties. (Glock only offers a one year warranty).

Remington has a new 1911 called the R1 selling for ~$600. W-O-W. Looks a lot like what we had on the boat.

The Hi-Point C9 is a blow back design. It is heavy in the front, but minimal recoil. This is medium not small.
A bit larger than expected. Single stack 8+1. I fired a box of cheap Wolf through it today. It hung up on the initial cocking several times. Just a tap on the back is all it took. Never a FT Fire or FT Feed after that. The clip worked well. New guns need to cycle. Preforms well now. A little oil and graphite corrected the problem. The safe lever seems secure after multiple tests. You can carry with 1 in the tube. Rated for +P+. Pull was about 5 lbs and crisp. No problem there. Felt fine. Adjustable windage and elevation sights. It was WAY off from the factory. I hit pond scum balls at 50 yards after adjustment. Paper was 5" at 50 yrds. Hand held. Say what you will.....................I paid $92 for this gun NEW. Lifetime warranty. Just beat it! Prime Saturday night special. Accurate and reliable. My neighbor started reloading and bought a chronograph. I put Hydrashock 124 gr from my 4" XD9 through it and got 1110 fps. Then I put +P+ 124 gr Hydrashock and got 1150 fps. Is 40 fps worth the extra $$$ and the extra punishment of gun and hand? I don't think so.

The +P+ comes to life on a carbine. 1600 fps is a huge gain. Put another 20 rounds through the Hi-Point. Flawless. I am watching 2 9mm carbines right now. I can't stand less than 2 guns for the load in my collection.

Well just picked this up for $209.
147 grain HP come to a new meaning with home loads in this carbine. "Good for social work". Still love the HP 9mm pistol. 350 rounds and 2 missfeeds. Wolf ammo though. Good gun. Puts it where you want it. I expect the carbine will preform well. Good shooting to you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote:

I wonder how long it for this to gain any traction or even IF it will. Not a good sign as the article points out:
"NSSF is springing into action, as the public comment period opens on EPA considering a regulation that will ban all traditional lead ammunition. This would basically end the shooting sports as we know it. Remember this is a no-win situation for us, because bullets made of materials other than lead are often considered armor piercing by law. Copper is your basic material, and copper is expensive, and has much poorer performance properties than lead." http://hotair.com/archives/2010/08/2...ed-ammunition/ speaking of the EPA. . . It looks like they feel they have the authority to write law now and are seeking to use the old Clean Air act to ramrod Cap and trade through the backdoor. . . http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125876438576558383.html

I don't think so. Look at this link. I buy from them and there are thousands of lbs of bullets going out everyday. Really out in the country. About 8 miles N of Kingsville. Justs e-mail them before you go. They don't like strangers. You really can't find the place unless you ask another resident of the area. Set a time and I will lead you there. We could make this a group thing. They know me and transactions would be fast and not questioned. This is for reloading lead only. Cash no tax Great buy, for hard lead .380, 38-357, 9mm, .40, .45. http://www.missouribullet.com/ O America knows how to load. This place is the source for lead ammo. IMHO get your re-loading cap on, or stock up. Last edited by arm53; 08-26-2010 at 07:49 PM.. |
